Optimisation plays a crucial role in improving efficiency, reducing operational costs, and enhancing overall performance. This document outlines two key fields in optimisation that contribute to better results and improved workflow.
The Solbox optimisation plan section has two fields that allow you to choose the best option for optimising routes for your runs. These fields include:
Optimiser Algorithm: This determines how the system calculates and assigns routes. A more advanced algorithm may provide better route efficiency but could require additional resources.
Optimiser Configuration: This defines how the routes are structured, such as whether they start and end at a central location or allow for more flexible routing.
2. Locate the Optimisation Plan section.
3. The first dropdown is the Optimiser Algorithm. Click the dropdown to select your preferred algorithm. (Note: The Pro version has an additional fee.)
The optimiser standard provides different settings that impact the way routes are calculated and executed:
Circular 9 (Current Setting): A balanced approach between route flexibility and efficiency.
Cross 8: Prioritises tighter route clustering, reducing travel distances and time.
Wide 10: Offers greater flexibility in route selection, accommodating diverse operational needs.
The second dropdown is the Optimiser Configuration. Click the dropdown to choose between:
Start and End at the Depot (more flexibility but potentially higher costs) ensures that all routes begin and end at a designated depot, leading to better planning, cost control, and streamlined logistics.
Open Ended allows routes to conclude at varying locations, offering flexibility but potentially leading to inefficiencies in resource management.
