Temperature Sensors: Adding, Pairing, & Unpairing

Temperature Sensors: Adding, Pairing, & Unpairing

Summary:
This article explains how to add a sensor to the platform, pair it with a vehicle and how to edit sensor if the sensor is moved to a different vehicle.

Each temperature sensor has its unique identifier called the MAC address. Aside from the MAC address, temperature sensors are also labeled with a sensor number.
The MAC address can be obtained by scanning the QR code found in the temperature sensor itself.

Notes
Ensure that the physical temperature sensor has a flashing red light. It flashes a couple of times when powering on, otherwise they only flash about once every 5 minutes.

Adding temperature sensor:

If your sensor cannot be found in the Devices > Sensors list, then you will need to add the sensor.

1. Log in to your account and click on the Devices menu on the left. Then select Sensors tab and click on Add new sensor

2. Enter the following details, then click on Save.
Label: Sensor Number
Sensor ID: MAC Address
Type: Temp & Humidity

Pairing temperature sensors:

When you are installing a new sensor it needs to be paired with the vehicle's tracking unit to report back the readings.

Alert
The vehicle ignition must be turned on when pairing a sensor to the tracking unit
Notes
Double-check the vehicle rego and device IMEI before editing the temperature sensor.

1. Log in to your account and click on the Devices menu on the left, then select Sensors tab.
2. Select the temperature sensor to be paired and click the pen icon horizontally aligned to it to edit.

3. Once you are on the Edit sensor page, change the sensor name to the rego dash (-) the sensor number eg. ABC123 - 59. This is for easy reference.
4. Ensure there is no vehicle linked and click the "Link to a new device" button.
Warning
Only 1 vehicle can be linked to each sensor. You will need to unpair a vehicle if one is already paired to the sensor (see Unpairing below).

5. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is turned on before linking the sensor with the tracker.
6. Enter the Vehicle Rego. The device IMEI number will be automatically filled in. Click on "Link new device" and the temp sensor will be paired with vehicle's tracking device.
AlertIf the IMEI number is not automatically filled in please check the rego number with the registered details in the Fleet tab.

7. The temperature sensor has now been paired to the vehicle's tracking device. Please allow up to 30 minutes before the sensor starts to transmit the readings into Telematics.

Unpairing temperature sensors:

In some cases like replacement or moving the sensor to a different vehicle, the old sensors must be unpaired before pairing the new sensor.

1. Log in to your account and click on the Devices menu on the left, then select Sensors tab.
2. Select the temperature sensor to be paired and click the pen icon horizontally aligned to it to edit.
3. Once you are on the Edit sensor page, find the vehicle rego you wish to unpair with the sensor and click the Unlink button to the right of it.
4. The sensor is now unpaired with the vehicle.
