Creating Your First Delivery Run
This article explains how to create your first delivery run using the different methods in SmartMove.
The process can be completed in just a few clicks.
Auto-Optimisation Method
Auto Optimise groups your customer orders into a single route and automatically arranges them in an efficient sequence for the driver to complete.
1. Open the Orders Page
Go to Orders and tick the box next to each order to be included in the run.
Multiple orders can be selected at once by ticking the box at the top of the list.
2. Allocate Orders
After selecting the orders, click Allocation Wizard.
This will open the Allocate Orders screen.
3. Auto Optimise Orders
Review the selected orders, then click Auto-Optimise.
This will automatically create a new manifest and arrange the orders based on order time windows, distance, and the driver’s schedule.
4. Select the driver to be assigned to the run
Ensure a vehicle is assigned to that driver.
Click Calculate to proceed.
Optimisation will begin. Click Next to proceed.
The new manifest appears under a default Run #1.
The name can be changed by clicking Edit details and updated at any time later if required.
This is also the point where last-minute changes can be made before finalising the run.
Any changes can still be made later at any time if further updates are needed.
Click Next to continue.
5. View the Route
Once the run has been created, the route will be displayed on the map with the optimised delivery sequence.
Click Submit orders to finalise the manifest.
An Optimised Manifest Has Been Created
A new manifest has now been created, optimised, and is ready for the driver to complete.
It will appear under the Manifests section.
This page provides an overview summary showing the driver, vehicle, route cost, distance, and total run time.
Some orders may be dropped after optimisation if the time window of an order does not fall within the driver’s timetable or if the distance prevents the driver from completing the run on time. This can be changed by ticking Ignore times when assigning to a driver or by editing the start and end time of the manifest.
Create a Manifest and Allocate Orders Method
This method involves manually creating a new manifest first then allocating orders to it.
Useful when planning runs in advance or assigning specific drivers and vehicles before orders are imported or optimised.
1.From the left-hand menu, select Manifests.
2. Click New Manifest to start creating a new manifest.
On the New Manifest page: Enter the Manifest Name and Manifest Date, then click Save.
3. Use Attach an Order to add an existing order, or Add New Order to create a new order for the manifest.
